Accommodation in Barcelona for Clinical Rotations, Observerships and Training Stays

Every year, doctors, nurses and medical students arrive in Barcelona for a clinical rotation, an observership or a training placement at one of the city's university hospitals. Most face the same problem: they need quality accommodation for a few weeks or months, with a legal, flexible contract, in a city where most of the market demands long stays or charges tourist prices.

At Coliving Vibes we host this profile on a regular basis. This guide explains how it works: which contract applies to a training stay, what documentation you need, where our houses are relative to the hospitals, and what it costs.

The duration fits: 32-day minimum stay

Clinical rotations and observerships typically last 4 to 12 weeks. Our minimum stay is 32 days, so a one-month rotation already fits — no paying for weeks you won't use, and no tourist apartments at holiday prices.

The right (and legal) contract for a training stay

In Catalonia, a temporary stay for training purposes is formalised through a seasonal tenancy contract with a justified cause, under Ley 11/2025. A clinical rotation, an observership or a hospital placement is exactly the kind of cause the law contemplates: postgraduate studies or professional internships.

To sign it you will need to document two things:

• The cause of your temporary stay: the acceptance letter from the hospital or university, or the document confirming your rotation, observership or placement.
• Your habitual residence elsewhere: through a residence certificate from your home municipality (or the equivalent document from your country).

The whole process — application, selection, electronic signature of the contract — is done remotely before you arrive. You land with the contract signed and the room ready.

Where the houses are relative to the hospitals

Coliving Vibes Badal (Bonsoms 19, Badal neighbourhood, Sants district) is a two-minute walk from Badal metro station (L5). The L5 connects with no transfers to three of the city's major university hospitals: Hospital Clínic, Hospital de Sant Pau (Sant Pau | Dos de Maig station) and Hospital Universitari Vall d'Hebron, at the end of the line. From nearby Santa Eulàlia station, the L1 runs directly to Hospital Universitari de Bellvitge.

Coliving Vibes Collblanc (Rosselló 7, Collblanc, L'Hospitalet de Llobregat) is next to Collblanc metro station (L5), on the border with Barcelona: the same direct line to Clínic, Sant Pau and Vall d'Hebron. Hospital Sant Joan de Déu (Esplugues) is a short bus or taxi ride away, and connections to the university area and the airport are excellent.

What the room includes

At Badal, all 9 rooms are single occupancy with three full shared bathrooms. At Collblanc, the 6 rooms have private bathrooms; five are doubles and admit couples.

What it costs

We publish prices with full transparency, itemised as required by the Stressed Residential Market Zone (ZMRT) regulation: rent as one line, utility provision as another, and taxes only where the room's contract expressly provides for them.

• Coliving Vibes Badal (single rooms, shared bathrooms): from €650/month in total.
• Coliving Vibes Collblanc (all rooms with private bathroom): single room from €726/month; double rooms, which admit couples, from €1,016.30/month.

The exact breakdown for each room is published on its listing. Guarantees at signing: a legal deposit of 1 month's rent (lodged with INCASOL) and an additional guarantee of €500 — both refunded at the end of the contract if the conditions are met.
